The Georgia Sting 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, and 15/16U competed in the following tournaments for the 2010 AAU Basketball Season:

The Sting participated in the Lexington, SC Hoop Fest.  This was the first tournament fir the the Georgia Sting.  Competition was tough and it put the girls to the test.  Although the Sting did not fare well in the tournament, it provided a team assessment and a way ahead for where we want to be as basketball players and teams.

The Sting participated in the Augusta, GA PQ Sports local tournament. Teams from Georgia, South Carolinia, and Tennesee joined in the action.  This was another opportunity for the Sting to raise the bar, and yes, the 12U Red, 14U Red, and 15/16U Red stood the test by making the chanmpionship game in thier age brackets.  Hats off to the players and coaches!

The Sting participated in the North GA. Pistols Invitational Tournament.  Teams from Atlanta, Augusta, and Tennessee demonstrated how far tough practice sessions will take a team.  Every game was a must see to believe the level of play for such yong female athelets.  Aggressiveness was the key as defense made all the difference.  The Sting 12U Red, 13U White, 14U Red all gave thier opponents a run for thier money.  Although niehter team advanced to the championship game, you would not know it, judging by the way they way!

The Sting participated in the North Augusta YBOA Invitationals tournament across the Savannah River.  As usual, the competition was tough.  Early on, the 12U Red, 14U Red, and 15/16U Red fared well and some went on to the championship game in thier age bracket. The 11U Red, 13U Red/White faced even more difficult opponets.  However, each was able to pull off at least one win during the tournament.  Once again, congratulations Georgia Sting.

The Sting participated in the PQSPORTS tournament held 14-16 May in Evans, GA at Patiots Park Gymnasium and gyms across Columbia and Richmond Counties.  Click the star above for pool and bracket play schedules for this tournament.  Check back periodically for tournament updates.  The tournament resulted in a "1st Place 15U and a 2nd Place 14U" finish for the Sting.  Congratulations on a job well done!

The Sting will participated in the North Augusta Riverview Park Tournament to be held 21-23 May.  Based on last weekend's results, this weekend should prove just as exciting.  Good luck to all of you

The Sting participated in another PQSPORTS tournament held 4-6 June in Evans, GA at Patiots Park Gymnasium and gyms across Columbia and Richmond Counties.

The Sting participated in the North GA. Pistols Invitational Tournament 11-13 June.  The Sting met up with teams from Tennessee, Atlanta, and Augusta.  The level of competition was as high as it ever was as the Sting up'd thier game and attacked thier opponents.

  Sting History   Sting Commitment
The Georgia Sting Organization has provided Columbia County young girls, interested in playing basketball, an opportunity to compete at the highest level in Goergia and South Carolinia areas over the past 10 years. In 2001, amid rummors that the talent in columbia county could not compete on the bigh stage, sparked the beginning of the Georgia Sting. With just a few girls to fill a team, a couple on the bench, and two parent coaches, the Sting set out to shock the CSRA. As time passed, The Sting has grown from just one team to over 10 and over twenty coaches.   The Georgia Sting Organization is committed to providing a quality program integrated with community and volunteer events. We are committed to encouraging the players to pursue a top level education. We understand that basketball can be a vehicle that can assist a player to achieve collegiate goals, but we know it takes a quality education to sustain any career. The commitment charter is one of the first stages of success as we encourage commitment in all we do and all we ask of players, parents, and coaches alike.
